Summer is here – and even if the hottest day of the year was followed by thunderstorms, it doesn’t matter. Long sunny days signal the start of touring season and a bit of rain is all part of the experience. Though as I huddled in the Hawes petrol station, watching rain bounce off the floor, I wished it was as sunny as it had been at the start of the bank holiday weekend. You may get more chance of dry weather if your tour takes you overseas.
For this issue we’ve been to France on a Harley and Germany on sports tourers (don’t worry – it rained on both trips), while David Stokes headed to Portugal (totally dry). We’ve also reviewed our favourite bits of Spain and Italy. Wherever you plan tour this summer – whether it’s Europe or the lovelier Yorkshire Dales, enjoy the ride.

MONTHLY TRAVEL GUIDE
This just might be one of the finest roads we've ever featured in RiDE. It's the AL3404 in Southern Spain - a long road that crosses the eastern shoulder of the Sierra Nevada range.
The RiDE road test is the toughest yet. Has the five-year wait for a hi-tech GSX-R1000 been worth it?
